I Bought A One-Way Ticket to London

Read the headline again. Yep, that’s right. I’ve got a one-way ticket to London in my possession.

Already, the number one question I can feel you wanting to ask is: are you moving to London?

No. I’m not moving to London or Europe or renouncing my U.S. citizenship. I am, however, looking for an adventure without limitations. I’m ready to spend more than 2 weeks a year exploring the planet we get to call home and embracing cultures that aren’t my own.

Perhaps your next question is: how are you planning on paying for this? Do you work remotely?

My plans to finance this journey will include staying at hostels, participating in work exchange programs, and potentially looking into house sitting. Additionally, several months ago I started freelancing, which earns me a modest sum of money outside of my day-job. I plan to continue freelancing in order to cover my fixed expenses back home and avoid completely draining my bank account.

If your next question is: aren’t you afraid you won’t be able to find a job when you get back?

Honestly? No. I may have some concerns over finding a career job when I return, but the reality is that I want to be my own boss one day. So, I’m hoping that this will propel me forward and force me to confront my fears of working for myself. I want this adventure to push me beyond my comfort zone physically so I can push past my comfort zone when it comes to my career.

For years, I have been dreaming up the business I want to start. As I inch closer to 30, I realize that there will never be the perfect time to start that business. So, I’m going to jump off the cliff and hope that a net is there to catch me when I fall.

The adventure I’m about to embark on is going to stretch me in ways I can’t even imagine right now. And who knows? Maybe I’ll come crawling back home after a month with my tail between my legs and wishing I had stayed put. Somehow I doubt that’ll be the case, but, let’s face it, you’re probably already thinking it (okay, maybe not you, but someone reading this is).

So, if you’re interested in following along on my grand adventure, then subscribe to my blog and my socials because I’ll be sharing the highs and the lows from my explorations around the globe.
